Patrick Muskat Mashes his way to the Pickles
Patrick “The Moose” Muskat, the former slugging first basemen of the Gherkins, will be the first Wild Wild West League player in history to earn a spot on a West Coast League roster, after proving himself with an impressive 2020 campaign.
Muskat was a standout player for the Gherkins since day one of the season, going perfect in his debut with a hit and a walk. The momentum only continued from there, as Muskat would go on to slug a whopping .632 through the first half of the season. By the end of his freshman WWWL season Muskat earned himself Gherkins MVP honors and a spot on the premier wood-bat team of the West Coast: The Portland Pickles.
Muskat has managed to accomplish a significant amount in his short ball career post high school. Prior to joining the Wild Wild West League, Muskat was in the midst of his freshman season at Western Oregon University, but struggled as he had limited opportunities on the field. Muskat mustered only one hit in four games before the season came to a halt due to the Covid-19 pandemic. For many players, the end of the collegiate season meant the end of their playing time in 2020, but for Muskat the Wild Wild West League provided the unique opportunity he needed to blossom as a ball player. We are excited to see his growth continue wearing a Pickles uniform in 2021!
Last summer Patrick “The Moose” Muskat lit it up for @GherkinBaseball. So much so that he has been moved up to play for @picklesbaseball this year! We can’t wait to see who will be the next rising star of the Wild Wild West League this summer! #GetWild🤠⚾️ pic.twitter.com/xAxA1w7qlm
